Sligo was a daughter of James Cooke (22 Apr 1859-2 May 1922) and Margaret Ruddy (2 January 1858-22 Feb 1919). Her siblings were Thomas Cooke, (B.17 Dec 1885), Michael Cooke (2 Jan 1887-23 Apr 1918), Patrick J. Cooke (2 Feb 188922 Oct 1964), Mary Kate Brennan (18915 May 1968), Margaret Shea (18941981), Charles Michael Cooke (1897-22 Nov 1920) and Ellen Shea (Jan 190115 Oct 1947). Annie was a midwife. On 5 September 1928 she married James Thomas Mulvany (1893-29 March 1970), a son of Thomas Mulvany who was from Annageliffe, Co. Cavan. They had one child together, James Charles Mulvany (26 Oct 193221 Feb 1998), who was known as Jim. James T. Mulvany had a sister called Minnie Mulvany. Annie and James T. Mulvany are buried in Killygary Cemetery just outside Cavan town.
