Comments: Edwin Slocum Pew (Nee: ) | Grand Rapids MI United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: I have three PEW Family Photographs from Indiana and Michigan including the following which I’d like to get back to a family member: 1 - William Bernard PEW, taken at the Elite Studio in South Bend, IN, 1896, age 4 months and 2 weeks, note "born 13 Jan 1986" and "Franks" 2 - Lizzie PEW, taken at the Gillett Studio in Grand Rapids, MI, 1890's, in her 20's or 30's 3 - Ed PEW, taken at the Edgerton Studio in Grand Rapids, MI, dated 9 Jul 1889, 19 years old Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: William Bernard PEW was b. 13 or 14 Jan 1896 in Mishawaka, IN to parents Benjamin Franklin PEW (1866-1945) and Mary Marguerite or Margaret WEBER (1875-1906). William was one of four children born to this family including siblings Mildred Ann PEW LEONARD (1901-1980); Cecelia PEW (b. 1903); and Helen Mary PEW SCHALLER (1905-1984). His mother was married previously and had another son, Joseph Gardner BAUMAN (1894-1982). William was married twice, first to Winifred E. KALKOFEN (1905-1924) on 3 Apr 1922 in Grand Rapids, MI and second to Gladys A. WOOD (1901-2002) on 18 Aug 1936 in Wood County, OH. William died 15 Mar 1940 in Saranac, MI and is buried in the Fairplains Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI. Eliza “Lizzie” A. PEW was b. 26 Jan 1856 in Grand Rapids, MI to parents George H. PEW (1826-1892) and Margaret Ann “Margueretta” SCRIBNER (1830-1913) who were married 8 Dec 1853 in Grand Rapids, MI. Lizzie was one of 9 children born to this couple including William Henry; Elizabeth “Eliza” or “Lizzie” Ann; William “Willie” S.; George Henry; Stephen Scribner; Benjamin Franklin; Wilder D.; Edwin “Ed” Slocum; and Arthur Alfred PEW, all born between 1854 and 1873. Lizzie never married or had children and died 16 Mar 1908 in Grand Rapids, MI and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI. Edwin “Ed” Slocum PEW was b. 24 Jun 1870 in Grand Rapids, MI to the same parents and married Almina “Mina” Elizabeth EASTMAN (1869-1943) on 15 Dec 1892 in Grand Rapids, MI. Almina had a daughter Gale Jennie Hurlburt PATTERSON (1885-1953) from a previous marriage. Ed died 20 May 1938 and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City, SD. I’d like to get the photographs back to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley
