Comments: Llewellyn Smith (Nee: ) | Carmel ME Penobscot | 1851-1900 | Comments: Llewellyn Smith was born 20 Feb 1836 in Carmel. He mustered in the 9th Maine Infantry company I. He had served in South Caroline, Florida, and survived the battle of Cold Harbor in Virginia only to be captured at Bermuda Hundred and he spent three weeks at Belle Isle Prison on the James River before being transferred to Libby Prison in Richmond. After the war he married Adaline Maloon and they lived in Carmel Maine. She died in 1880 and he died in 1883. Their five childrn were raised in a children's home. She is buried near her parents and other family members in Detroit, ME and he is buried in Carmel, ME. Keywords: CW Soldier Rifle Firearms Civil War
