Dead Fred's Genealogy Photo Archive, a free, fun photo genealogy research web site devoted to helping you visualize your heritage!

Dear readers,

We need your help. 90% of our expenses are covered by donations averaging $10, though not many visitors contribute. If each visitor reading this right now gave $2, we would have enough to operate DeadFred for a year. That's right, the price of a bottle of soda would do it. If DeadFred is helpful to you, please take a moment to help us. We are a very small group of volunteers serving thousands of readers daily with very little outside support. DeadFred is a place to share and discover the faces of your ancestors. The funds we receive go toward maintaining and improving your chances of discovery. Please help us so we can continue to help you.

Thank you,
Joe Bott

Comments: Albrecht Daniel Thaer (Nee: ) | Germany | 1835-1850 | Comments: This picture of Albrecht Daniel Thaer appears on page 244 of The American Breeders Magazine, vol.II, no.4, 1911. There is a biographical sketch of him on pages 245-246 of that volume. Please see that reference for more details. See also the wikipedia entry for him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albrecht_Thaer). Thaer was born in the town of Celle in the province of Hanover, Germany in 1752, the son of a doctor. He first studied medicine and later became involved in the science of improvement of agriculture. In 1804 he moved to Moglin near Berlin and founded the Moglin Agricultural Institute. He wrote much on the topic of science in farming. He died in 1828. That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
