Dead Fred's Genealogy Photo Archive, a free, fun photo genealogy research web site devoted to helping you visualize your heritage!

Dear readers,

Please help us keep DeadFred alive. 90% of our expenses are supported by donations averaging $5. Not many visitors contribute. If each visitor reading this right now gave $2, our fundraiser would be done by the time you finish reading this. That's right, the price of a large can of soda would do it.

If DeadFred is helpful to you, please take a moment to help us. We are a very small group of volunteers serving thousands of readers daily with very little outside support. DeadFred is a place to share and discover the faces of your ancestors. The funds we receive go toward maintaining and improving your chances of discovery. Please help us so we can continue to help you.

Thank you,
Joe Bott

Comments: Joseph Lancaster Budd (Nee: ) | IA United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: This picture of Joseph Lancaster Budd appears on page 244 of The American Breeders Magazine, vol.1, no.4, 1910. Please see that reference for more details. There is a biographical sketch of him on pages 245-246 of that volume. Budd was born at Peekskill, Westchester County, New York in 1825. At age 20 he moved to Illinios and later purchased a farm in Benton County, Iowa where he established a commercial nursery. He became a Professor and was among the first to give instruction in plant breeding as a scientific and technical subject. He is especially known for his work with cherries, apples and roses. He died in 1902. That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
