Comments: Richard Ferdinand Holtermann (Nee: ) | Brantford Canada | 1851-1900 | Comments: This portrait of Mr. Richard Ferdinand Holtermann appears on page 293 of The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XVI, no.8, 1893. There is a biographical sketch of him on pages 293-294 of that volume. He was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1860. He grew up in the county of Renfrew, Canada and his education was acquired at the Ottawa Collegiate Institute, Upper Canada College, and the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph. Richard became an apiarist or bee keeper. In 1882 he was made secretary of the Ontario Bee-Keepers' Association. He also attained some experience with fruit growing and horticulture.
