Comments: Jane Godfrey (Nee: Jolley) | UT | 1851-1900 | Comments: Richard Godfrey was born in Hanbury Worcester, England in 1835 to Thomas Godfrey and Mary Wimlott. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints in England with his parents. He emigrated in Jan 1856 on the Thornton. He was part of the Willie Handcart company and as they were departing on July 1856 while in camp he married his fellow travelor from England Ann Herbert. They were divorced in just 7 months after marriage in Feb 1857. Apparently they did not live together after they arrived in the valley. He married Jane Jolley in 1859 and they had 12 children. They settled in Clarkston, Ut. He also was married to Mary Ann George and they had 4 children. He died in Clarkston in 1901
