One Ninth Plate Tintype of woman identified as Mehetable Swift Young.
This interesting image was purchased at auction in Frederick ,
Maryland of a large family photo
collection. These have never been available outside of the
family until this time. Mehetable (Mehitable) is the mother of the
young woman named Mary Elizabeth Young in the full plate tintype also listed for sale.
She is wearing an interesting cascading snood.
See image. The surnames in this collection include
Back, Chapelle (Chapell), Hemenway, Newcomb, Readio,
Wetmore, Weaver,and Young.
I did some preliminary ancestry research on the identified individuals
and they primarily lived in the New England area
(Massacusetts, Maine, New York). I will be listing ambrotypes, daguerreotypes,
and tintypes from this family in the few weeks.
