His famiy moved to the US when he was young. They lived in Ohio where younger siblings were born. Then then went to Wisconsin. His parents stayed in Wisconsin. They were James Hadsell Carr and Laura Vanseetheart Rose. Ezra became a physician and moved to Pipestone MN after his marriage to Lucy Jane (Jennie) Bell. They had one daughter Ida B. who never married. He practised medicine in Pipestone for decades. He died in Pipestone in 1916
