As an adult, George lived in Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania and was a Brakeman for the Allegheny Railroad. He died as a young father and husband when he was crushed by a railroad car on New Year's Eve. His mother was Cassandra Bailey Boswell, the daughter of a Baltimore ship captain named Edwin Bailey.
