He was born 6 May 1891 in Indiana. His parents were Dutch. He married Olive Celeste and they had at least two children, Christiani and Bobetta. His father was a music teacher and taught my grandmother to play piano. Courtland later dated her, and gave her these photo's. He also made a scrapbook of many pictures of the two of them together, but the album has become lost to our family.
