Dead Fred's Genealogy Photo Archive, a free, fun photo genealogy research web site devoted to helping you visualize your heritage!

Dear readers,

We need your help. 90% of our expenses are covered by donations averaging $10, though not many visitors contribute. If each visitor reading this right now gave $2, we would have enough to operate DeadFred for a year. That's right, the price of a bottle of soda would do it. If DeadFred is helpful to you, please take a moment to help us. We are a very small group of volunteers serving thousands of readers daily with very little outside support. DeadFred is a place to share and discover the faces of your ancestors. The funds we receive go toward maintaining and improving your chances of discovery. Please help us so we can continue to help you.

Thank you,
Joe Bott

Comments: Elizabeth Flood (Nee: Flood) | Porterville CA United States | | Comments: Elizabeth Flood, 1804 KY-1867 CA, married Samuel Lewis in Shelby Co., KY, on her father's farm [Joshua A. Flood farm]. After starting their family, the Lewis' moved to Pike Co., MO, and subsequently to Lynn Co., MO, in a part that later became Sullivan Co. In 1852, she accompanied her husband and most of her children with their families to the California gold fields, namely Calaveras Co. When they falled to prosper, the family groups moved to Tulare Co., where they homesteaded adjacent sections on the banks of the Tule River. This picture was probably taken in Visalia, the nearest town of size, unless a traveling photographer came through what was to become Porterville where their farm was. I believe it was taken about 1865, about 2 years before Elizabeth died. She is bured in Visalia, Tulare Co., CA.
