Dead Fred's Genealogy Photo Archive, a free, fun photo genealogy research web site devoted to helping you visualize your heritage!

Dear readers,

Please help us keep DeadFred alive. 90% of our expenses are supported by donations averaging $5. Not many visitors contribute. If each visitor reading this right now gave $2, our fundraiser would be done by the time you finish reading this. That's right, the price of a large can of soda would do it.

If DeadFred is helpful to you, please take a moment to help us. We are a very small group of volunteers serving thousands of readers daily with very little outside support. DeadFred is a place to share and discover the faces of your ancestors. The funds we receive go toward maintaining and improving your chances of discovery. Please help us so we can continue to help you.

Thank you,
Joe Bott

Comments: Sanford Williams (Nee: ) | OH USA | 1851-1900 | Comments: This is, I believe, the same man taken at different times of his life. I'm trying to identify approximate dates. He was born in 1810 in VA. The earlier photo of him appears to have been enhanced with charcoal, especially in the eye region. Can anyone help give an approximate time frame? Also, this man was poor, and I was told by a quasi-professional that only the "wealthy" could afford to have a portrait taken as early as I suspect the first photo was taken, so he "dated" the early photo as having been taken after 1880 - based on that fact alone, but the man in question would have been over 70 y/o - clearly he is younger than that in this photo. I believe the later photo was taken around or after 1880. Photos from the files of Martha June Morehart.
