Comments: Domatile Henriod (Nee: Deligne) | le Havre Normandy France | | Comments: This is a digital photograph of the hand-colored photo portrait of my great great great grandmother, Domatile Deligne Henriod (1798-1872). She was the daughter of Pierre Benoit de Ligne and Cecile Hebert. Her father was a captain in the French navy and was killed at sea in battle. Her husband was Jean Louis Henri Henriod. She came to America to live with her son's family while he was on a Mormon mission in France. She returned to France with the intention of moving to America permantenly with her son when he returned. He came home sooner than expected and their ships crossed paths. They never saw each other again. On the day she was leaving to come back to America, she turned back for one last look as she was closing the door behind her. Seeing a crooked painting on the wall, she climbed up on a table to straighten it out and fell and broke her neck. I do not know if this portrait was taken in France or Utah. The original belongs to my mother's cousin, Madeleine Hicks.
