He was originally from Watertown, New York and was a gold miner and '49er, who had a hotel in Nevada City. He died in Snelling. She was born in England and came to America with her sister after joining the Mormon Church and running away from home. Her father never forgave either her or her sister. After she arrived in Salt Lake, Brigham Young asked her to be one of his plural wives. She turned him down and renounced the faith and then went on to California where she stayed in Frank Larkin's hotel and then married him. She died in Dutch Flat and is buried in Lone Tree Cemetery in Hayward, California.
