Dead Fred's Genealogy Photo Archive, a free, fun photo genealogy research web site devoted to helping you visualize your heritage!

Dear readers,

Please help us keep DeadFred alive. 90% of our expenses are supported by donations averaging $5. Not many visitors contribute. If each visitor reading this right now gave $2, our fundraiser would be done by the time you finish reading this. That's right, the price of a large can of soda would do it.

If DeadFred is helpful to you, please take a moment to help us. We are a very small group of volunteers serving thousands of readers daily with very little outside support. DeadFred is a place to share and discover the faces of your ancestors. The funds we receive go toward maintaining and improving your chances of discovery. Please help us so we can continue to help you.

Thank you,
Joe Bott

Comments: Irving H Kriegel (Nee: ) | | 1921-1940 | Comments: This is My father, Irving H. Kriegel,24 yrs old on the front porch (veranda) of the Funcrest Hotel during the 1929 summer season . He worked at the Funcrest, running activities and gaming, etc each season in the late 1920s and into the early 30s. I believe he met my mother, Edna Feldman there, and they were married in 1931. . My Father drove us up to Pine Hill sometime in the early 50's ... I can't remember exactly what year. Anyway, we stayed there a couple of days (maybe 3?) and I really loved the place! The lake and setting were gorgeous ... and I spent much time swimming and rowing on that lake during this short visit. The owners, (Mr & Mrs. Funk) were still alive (or at least Mr. Funk was....) and remembered my father from a quarter century earlier. He treated us very well during our short visit. I don't remember the town of *Pine Hill*, but I do recall that the town of *Liberty* was the closest town of any meaningful size ... My parents also told me that in the late 20s or early 30s someone drowned in that lake ... and the lake had to be heavily drained to recover the body. I don't know who the victim was ... only that he was reputed to be a strong swimmer who developed a cramp while in the water.
