Dead Fred's Genealogy Photo Archive, a free, fun photo genealogy research web site devoted to helping you visualize your heritage!

Dear readers,

Please help us keep DeadFred alive. 90% of our expenses are supported by donations averaging $5. Not many visitors contribute. If each visitor reading this right now gave $2, our fundraiser would be done by the time you finish reading this. That's right, the price of a large can of soda would do it.

If DeadFred is helpful to you, please take a moment to help us. We are a very small group of volunteers serving thousands of readers daily with very little outside support. DeadFred is a place to share and discover the faces of your ancestors. The funds we receive go toward maintaining and improving your chances of discovery. Please help us so we can continue to help you.

Thank you,
Joe Bott

Comments: Love (Nee: ) | USA | 1851-1900 | Comments: This photo was found in a box of papers and pictures that had belonged to a cousins parents/and or grandparents. We are a family of Loves who are trying to find the ancestors of our gggrandfather, Clinton Love, born 1804 in NY.We have been told the following: *Visited with the historians at the Santa Fe Trail Center here at Ft. Larned, KS. She says she is sure this is Lt. John Love that served in the Army during the and before the Civil War. She also said rumor had it that Lt. Johns father was General LOVE from VA. Gen. Loves first wife. *Luci* Clinton Love died in child birth in early 1800s. The General left his child with wifes family, and returned to his post. Gen. LOVE later remarried a southern girl in TN. but never could return for his son. This attached photo has the name John H. Love written on back. Clinton had a son, John, who was a casualty of the Civil War, however he died at age 33 as a private. This John appears older than 33 and I think his frockcoat indicates some rank such as Lt, Lt.Col, or Major. We think this man may be a half-brother of our Clinton Love, but we have nothing to substantiate this. Maybe someone will see this photo and recognize this man. At least we would like a verification of his rank according to the uniform. Keywords: CW Soldier 23614
