Comments: (Nee: ) | USA | 1851-1900 | Comments: This is a portrait of a Union Army Infantry Private who served in the 1st Division of the 2nd Army Corps. This is a digital photo of a very large painting that was given to the Historical Society of the Tonawandas in Tonawanda, NY. Unfortunately, we don't know the provenance of the portrait or the identity of the soldier. We believe that it was a portrait done from the original photograph. The painting is signed by the artist named "Rudolph" in 1901. The full portrait has also been posted here.
