Comments: Thomas Monroe Sr. Alger (Nee: N/A) | Donora PA United States | 1941-1960 | Comments: Son of Leroy Elias Alger and Mary Frances Pettit, Thomas Monroe Alger Sr. was born 5 Apr 1877 in Page County, Virginia. He first married Molly Victoria Elkins in Dec 1897 in Warren County, Virginia, and they moved to Pennsylvania shortly thereafter and he fathered 4 children of this marriage. Widowed by Molly on 15 Feb 1914, who died from Brights disease at just 35 years of age, he next married Edna Mae Behanna-Connolly (widow of Patrick William Connelly) on 4 Jul 1914 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Between 1916 and 1924 3 of his 4 children of his marriage to Molly and 2 of the 4 children of Ednas marriage to P{atrick had all passed away (all but 1 died from TB). Of this 2nd marriage, Thomas fathered 5 more children and passed away on 6 Dec 1962 in Donors, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He and Edna were laid to rest in Monongahela at Mon Valley Memorial Park. His 1st wife, Molly, and all the children who passed away in their childhood (including Ednas 2) were laid to rest in an Alger family plot in Monongahela Cemetery, also in Monongahela.
