Dead Fred's Genealogy Photo Archive, a free, fun photo genealogy research web site devoted to helping you visualize your heritage!

Dear readers,

Please help us keep DeadFred alive. 90% of our expenses are supported by donations averaging $5. Not many visitors contribute. If each visitor reading this right now gave $2, our fundraiser would be done by the time you finish reading this. That's right, the price of a large can of soda would do it.

If DeadFred is helpful to you, please take a moment to help us. We are a very small group of volunteers serving thousands of readers daily with very little outside support. DeadFred is a place to share and discover the faces of your ancestors. The funds we receive go toward maintaining and improving your chances of discovery. Please help us so we can continue to help you.

Thank you,
Joe Bott

Comments: Jesse Kersey Sharpless (Nee: ) | PA United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: This picture of Mr. Jesse Kersey Sharpless appears on page 701 of the Rural New Yorker, vol.LV, no.2439, 24 October 1896. There is a biographical description of him on page 702 of that volume. Please see that reference for more details. Jesse was born in Catawissa, Columbia County, PA, Sept 3, 1818 in the old 'high house' at the plant of the Catawissa Fiber Company, which was then owned by his father. His parents were Benjamin and Harriet Bousall Sharpless. They were both Quakers from PA. As a boy Jesse worked in the paper mill for his father. December 22, 1842 he married Mary Margaret Harder. They had at least two children: Ambrose H. Sharpless and Charles C. Sharpless. Jesse was interested in horticulture and small fruits and is the originator of the Sharpless Strawberry. That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
