Comments: This portrait of Mr. E. D. Smith appears on page 129 of The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XX, no.4, April, 1897. See that article for more information. Mr. Smith was a farmer, then in 1885 he turned to fruit growing. He grew tree fruit and grapes as well as hay and oats and other crops. He was also a buyer and shipper of fruit. He lived in Winona, Ontario, Canada. This is all the information I have on him.
